Super Lemon Haze: origin of the strain
Super Lemon Haze comes from Green House Seeds in Amsterdam. The breeders crossed two well-known strains: Lemon Skunk, which brings the lemon aroma, and Super Silver Haze, which adds the typical Haze note. The result won the Cannabis Cup twice and has been a fixture on almost every strain list ever since. You can find the key facts in the strain database at Leafly, for example.
In the indica and sativa classification, Super Lemon Haze counts as sativa-dominant. What that means and why it says less than many people think is explained in the guide Indica and Sativa.
Super Lemon Haze or Lemon Haze: not the same strain
Lemon Haze is searched for much more often than Super Lemon Haze, and many people think they are the same. They are not. Lemon Haze is a separate strain from the Haze family with a citrus profile as well, but a different lineage. The "Super" in the name is not a strength indication.
In taste the two are close. If you like Lemon Haze, you will very likely be happy with Super Lemon Haze.
Aroma and taste: lemon with a Haze edge
Lemon and lime up front, fresh and bright. Behind it a light sweetness and the herbal, slightly spicy note that Haze strains share. No heavy finish, nothing earthy.
The terpenes are responsible for this. Super Lemon Haze is mainly associated with terpinolene, plus caryophyllene and myrcene. Terpinolene smells fresh and herbal, caryophyllene brings the light spice. What is behind these substances is explained in the guide Terpenes.
