Gelato strain: lineage of the strain
According to the strain database Leafly , the strain descends from Sunset Sherbet and Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies. CannaConnection names the same parents in its text. Neither site gives a breeder or an origin. The SHEESH product page for Durban Gelato names California as the origin of Gelato.
Leafly lists Runtz and Biscotti as descendants. The database also mentions the numbers Gelato #3, #33, #41 and #45, which came from the strain.
Is Gelato Indica or Sativa?
Leafly lists the strain as a balanced hybrid. CannaConnection names a slight Indica dominance in its profile and a balanced strain in its text. So the strain lies between the two poles, and a clear assignment is not documented. The product page of the Rollz gives no information on this. Why the classification says less anyway than many people think is explained in the guide Indica and Sativa.
Aroma and taste: creamy with a light spice
Leafly lists sweet, floral and pepper, plus fruity and creamy notes. CannaConnection names vanilla, citrus and mint. The product page of Glossy Gelato compares the profile to ice cream, and the Italian word gelato means ice cream.
As terpenes, Leafly mainly names caryophyllene, plus limonene and humulene. Caryophyllene stands for the peppery side, limonene for the citrus note. This information describes the strain in general. SHEESH has no product page with terpene information for pure Gelato. What the substances are is explained in the guide Terpenes.
